A New Bowl Game!



The Christmas Bowl® is a newly proposed post-season college football bowl game, located in Los Angeles, CA.  The Christmas Bowl® location lends itself to some of the largest college football conference followings, as well as one of the nations largest tourist destinations. The Christmas Bowl® anticipates NCAA certification for the 2014-2017 postseason, and anticipates playing the inaugural game December, 2014 in one of the most historical stadiums in the world, The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. 

Bringing a new bowl game to the Los Angeles has been a vision of Christmas Bowl® founders Derek Dearwater and John Perles.  The Christmas Bowl® name was adopted in recognition of the first postseason bowl game ever played in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum -- the 1924 Los Angeles Christmas Festival

The Christmas Bowl® committee estimates the new bowl game will generate more than $20 million annually for the local economy, much of which comes from out-of-town fans spending on local hotels, restaurants, entertainment, retail stores, local services and beyond.

Much more than just another football game, the Christmas Bowl® represents an opportunity to become the second largest economic impact of an annual one-day event during the holiday period in Los Angeles behind the Rose Bowl.  The "LA" advantage include:

The Christmas Bowl® has established a long term agreement with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to be the primary charity of the new game.  The Christmas Bowl® will serve as a high profile platform for the organizations fundraising efforts, maintaining the most visibility within the marketing of the bowl game behind the title sponsor.  In addition, a portion of all ticket sales will be donated to the organizations hospitals. 

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 175 children’s hospitals.  Countless individuals, organizations and media partners unite with the organization to help sick and injured kids in local communities worldwide.  Donations to the organization creates miracles by funding medical care, research and education that saves and improves the lives of 17 million children each year!

It is the objective of the Christmas Bowl® to become one of the organizations leading fund raisers over the next 5 years, establishing the bowl game as the most benevolent event in the NCAA college bowl series.
